What is Senior Fitness and Who’s It For?


Senior Fitness is a comprehensive workout program designed to help seniors improve or maintain their physical fitness levels over time. The program is adapted based on the results of the Senior Fitness Test, which provides valuable guidance and motivation for maintaining consistency in their exercise regimen.


This class is ideal for senior citizens aged 60 and older, catering to beginners and intermediate fitness levels. It’s perfect for those looking to enhance their overall health and quality of life through safe and supervised exercise.

So, What’s Class Like?

Expect a thorough workout that addresses various aspects of physical fitness. Each session is structured to ensure you leave feeling accomplished and revitalized.


  • Warm-Up: A dynamic warm-up including mobility exercises to improve range of motion in the shoulders, hips, and spine, plus a general warm-up like walking or marching in place to increase circulation and heart rate.


  • Core and Abs: Lying or adapted seated abdominal exercises to target all muscle groups of the core, including hypopressives to support the transverse abdominus and pelvic floor.


  • Strength Training: Utilizing equipment like resistance bands, dumbbells, TRX (suspension trainers), body weight, and free weights. Focus is placed on compound exercises that mimic daily activities, as well as isolation exercises to address common weaknesses in seniors.


  • Cardio: Incorporates walking, step aerobics, agility exercises, and light to no-impact cardio activities.


  • Cool-Down: Breathing exercises and static stretches to improve posture, breathing, and range of motion in the hips, shoulders, and back.

Our Senior Fitness class emphasizes strength, cardiovascular endurance, agility, balance, coordination, and flexibility to improve daily living activities. It’s uniquely tailored for senior citizens to not only maintain but also enhance their quality of life through safe and personalized exercise programs.


The Senior Fitness Test allows us to compare each individual’s physical fitness to normative data and track their progress over time. Many past clients have rejuvenated their fitness levels, achieving capabilities similar to those 14 years younger than their actual age. Remember, age is just a number; the better your fitness, the slower you age physically.
